Best Kept Village BKV 2017

Haunton first entered the BKV competition in 1997 and we have consistently done well.  You can see our plaques on the pole on the green. It would be lovely to get as many people as possible involved in this community event again this year.

To make this year a success, we need to display BKV posters, keep the bus shelters and telephone box tidy and look after the planters and benches around the village. We are judged on the tidiness of our gardens and frontages, and the church surrounds and car park are judged too. Judging takes place between May and June and the shortlisted villages are visited again in July.

We can all do our bit to keep our own patches tidy, with a little extra effort to ensure the rest of the village is tidy and free of dog fouling and litter. Any children’s posters to decorate our bus shelters and cover these themes would be super, these will be entered into the BKV poster competition.

For more information Ena Grieveson & Jo Clarke invite you to a short informal meeting at Syerscote End on Sat 18th March at 10.30am. You can contact us through the Facebook Group page. We’ll be seeking volunteers to help with the communal areas. Any help would be greatly appreciated and everyone is welcome!
