Live on the Green, Clifton Campville 10th June

WHERE: Clifton Campville (Millennium Green)

WHEN: Saturday 10th June

The line-up has been confirmed for the evening of live music following Clifton Campville’s Country Fair. Focusing on local talent the organisers have announced that Brindley-Hunt, the popular and talented acoustic rock/pop duo will be playing.

With good acoustic modern music played live by local musicians being the order of the night  the organisers are delighted to confirm that another local singer song writer Kirsty Clarke will also be performing with her band The Beating Hearts.

Bryan Brindley and Barry Hunt have recently released their first CD of original songs ‘Find My Way ..’. It has received considerable music industry approval including glowing words from Jeffry Foskett of the Beach Boys. All the songs on the CD have been written, performed, arranged and mixed by Bryan and Barry. Copies will be available on the night.

Brindley-Hunt formed their acoustic music duo in September 2015 after becoming aware of each other’s ability earlier in the same year. They enjoy singing harmonies in the style of The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Crowded House and other great vocal bands, while adding acoustic guitars with flair and imagination. They perform covers of the very best songs from the last 5 decades that range from gentle ballads to gigantic anthems and are adding original songs into their sets.

Bryan Brindley has been playing guitar since he was a teenager and has performed as a soloist for nearly 10 years, playing in a variety of venues including festivals, Premiership football clubs, theatres, and charity events of all sizes. He has also recorded a CD of his own songs which has received considerable attention and positive music industry feedback. Bryan is a professional firefighter and lives in Tamworth, Staffordshire.

Barry Hunt has many decades experience as a solo performer and as part of bands as a singer/guitarist. He has performed at festivals, clubs and theatres all over the UK and parts of Europe, and has enjoyed playing at Ronnie Scott’s Club, The Cavern and many castles and stately homes in a long musical career. He has released 3 CDs of his own material and has received lots of radio airplay for his songs on BBC radio and overseas internet radio. Barry runs his own business as a guitar and songwriting teacher, has a masters degree in songwriting, and lives in Elford, Staffordshire.

Kirsty Clarke and the Beating Hearts are an acoustic trio who formed in April of this year and are already booked for gigs and festival dates across the summer. Kirsty has been performing solo for the past 5 years and has had her music featured both television and local radio stations. She was joined by Dean Clinton and Dave Monks early this year and as an acoustic trio they perform finely crafted original songs, together with carefully chosen covers that vary from Queen, Sinead O’Connor, Chris Isaac, Nirvana and Radio head. Kirsty’s latest album ‘Confession’s of a Music Addict’ will be available on the night.

Other supporting acts include Clifton’s very own Ian Peters with his band the Reprobates – many will have heard them play in other local venues with songs by The Beatles, Oasis, The Eagles, Van Morrison, The Faces, Rod Stewart, Eric Clapton, the Who .. and many more.

This evening of live music is an exciting extension to the ever popular Clifton Campville Country Fair, commencing at 11am. Instruments are being polished, dogs are being groomed, cakes are being baked, ducks – yes ducks, come and find out – are being trained, and an aircraft is being fuelled.  Licensed bar and barbeque. Adults £3, Children 50p, Under 5’s free. Free parking available. Live music after 5.30pm.

Haunton enters the Best Kept Village Competition – BKV 2017

bkv

Haunton first entered the BKV competition in 1997 and we have consistently done well.  You can see our plaques on the pole on the green, with 2016 still to be added. It would be lovely to get as many people as possible involved in this community event again…

To make this year a success, the judges are looking for a display of BKV posters, so pop yours in your window when it arrives through your door. We have volunteers to keep the bus shelters and telephone box tidy and to look after the planters and benches around the village. We are judged on the tidiness of our gardens and frontages too, so that’s down to you, and the church surrounds and car park are also judged. Any help there with weeding and tidying would be much appreciated.

Judges visit in May and June and the shortlisted villages are then visited again in July.

While we all do our bit to keep our own patches looking good, a little extra effort will ensure the rest of the village is tidy and free of dog fouling and litter. Any children’s posters created to cover these themes and decorate our bus shelters, would be super. These will be entered into the BKV poster competition. Please deliver colour photocopies of any children’s posters, with age and name, to St Mary’s Cottage.

For further information, please contact Ena Grieveson tel. 373514 or Jo Clarke tel. 373737.

Best wishes,

Ena & Jo

In addition we are now raising funds for smart new village signs. If we all chip in, we can make them happen!
