Speed Awareness Signs

We have now placed an order for two illuminated mobile speed awareness signs, which can be sited in four locations around the parish.  We are just awaiting confirmation from the ground works contractor on an estimated installation time.

Community Speedwatch

The Community Speedwatch are still looking for volunteers to join them if you are interested please contact Sarah Dawson – 01827 373399

Community Volunteers

Do you know that a lot of voluntary work is carried out in the community?  In recognition of this we would like to offer our thanks to people who give up their time to improve our community.  Who are they?  If you know someone who deserves a mention in our newsletter please send a short email to helen.elliott4@btinternet.com

A special mention goes to Sue Wadham for her remarkable efforts in organising the Country Fair and also to Bob Patchett for his role as MC on the day.  In addition to this visible role, these two selfless pillars give so much time and hard work to improving our community, and for that we offer our sincere thanks.

Violet’s Vehicles

Is a community companion service based in Haunton offering a friendly and personal service for the elderly, disabled and children.  If you have been affected by the removal of the bus service please feel free to contact Sarah Fitzpatrick to express an interest in a potential shared service between the parish and Tamworth town centre – info@violetsvehicles.com or 07968 615988

Telephone Box

We have all the materials required to refurbish the sorry looking telephone box on Main Street, Clifton Campville.  We just need volunteers to assist with the work if you have any spare time to assist please contact Helen Elliott – helen.elliott4@btinternet.com  or 01827 373697.

 Dog Fouling

We have been asked to mention this again; there has been an increase in dog fouling around the parish.  Please pick up after your dog and make sure you dispose of it in the bins provided either on the Millenium Green or in the general waste bins.  Thank you.

Haunton Best Kept Village

Thanks to the Williscroft family and all the other residents of Haunton who have been involved in the upkeep and preparation of the village for this years Best Kept Village Competition.  We wish you good luck and hope the judges recognise and appreciate your efforts as much as the Parish      Council do.

Coneyberry Millennium Green Trust

Like many people’s gardens the Green is looking a little thirsty!!! The young trees planted in the new fruit and nut grove are our major concern during this period of dry weather – if you can offer any help to water these (we have the equipment) please contact Liz Ellis on 373735

We have moved on with several projects this year. Many of you will have noticed that the   improvements to the Main Entrance have been completed – improving both access and visibility splays.  We are just waiting now for the right time to replant the hedge along the side of the entrance.

We have also finally got the storage facility that we have waited so long for – thanks to the very generous donation of the storage container from a well-wisher and many hours of hard work from Nigel Wadham!

Also big ‘Thank You’ to Lionel Probert who has been carrying out a Wildlife Survey over the past couple of months. No evidence to date of any snakes however the presence of other    wildlife has been confirmed including wood mice, common shrews, field voles and toads. We’ll probably see lots of frogs  before long.

The date for our Autumn Working Party is Saturday 15th September 2018 (10am – 1pm on     the Green) – please come along and help us with some of our autumn tasks. You don’t have to have specialist knowledge or to have any specialist tools or equipment.

The Green takes a lot of upkeep – if you can spare an hour or so to help please contact Liz on 373735 or Clive on 373352

For more information about the Trust and its work please speak to one of the Millennium Green Trustees. If you are interested and would like more specific information about the role of a Trustee please contact the secretary, Sue Wadham, on 373814

The current Trustees are:

Clive Boydell (Treasurer), Steve Bradley, Jason Chandler, Liz Ellis (Chairman), Debbie Fulbrook (Vice Chairman), David Lodge, Bob Patchett (Communications Officer), Sue Wadham (Secretary) and Christine Warburton.

2018 Country Fair

The day raised over £7,400 for the community: £700 for the Church, £200 for SASA and over   £6,500 split equally for the Village Hall and the Millennium Green…. and above all people had fun.

Next Year – Saturday 8th June 2019 – get the date in your diary now!!!

A huge effort on the part of everyone involved – thank you to all who helped and supported the event.

The second year of the ‘Live on the Green’ event in the evening was also a huge success with many families enjoying the lovely weather until late in the evening.

Believe it or not thoughts are already turning to next year’s event – the request for the   flyover has already been submitted and the first Organising Committee Meeting will be held early in September. Please come along and help us.

If you have any ideas or suggestions for next year or if you would be willing to be a member of the Organising Committee please contact Sue Wadham on 373814.

 Village Hall

The Community Coffee Shop every Monday morning has been a huge success since it began on 9th April.  Every week has seen lots of different people popping in for a slice of cake … a    toasted teacake … or a couple of rounds of hot buttered toast. There’s always a smile for everyone … dog walkers, young families and cyclists are all welcome. The Community Coffee Shop is open every Monday from 9.15 till 12 noon including Bank Holidays … so pop in and see what everyone is talking about.

skittlesThere is a packed social calendar for the Autumn with several family evenings and themed meal nights in addition to the regular weekly Yoga and Pilates classes that will be returning in September (dates to be confirmed).

The programme kicks off with the ever popular Skittles Night. Currently Owen sits at the top of the Junior Leader board … can he be beaten in September. Don’t delay book your places before they are all filled!!!
