BT have given notice, stating that due to the limited use of Clifton and Haunton village phone boxes, they are no longer viable to keep. Unfortunately BT have provided no option for leaving the phone boxes in service, and have posted notices inside of each phone box, advising plans to completely remove them, unless village residents want to adopt them for their own use.
Although not used often, the phone boxes have become village features, I feel it would be a shame to see these removed.
Fortunately, the parish council have stepped in and are liaising to review adoption options. Although the phones themselves will be removed, the phone boxes will remain allowing parishioners to decide on new and innovative uses for them.
